Horst, a friend who I idolize and admire for what he had accomplished and for who he is. A hunter, an angler, homesteader, a carpenter with plenty of knowledge and skills which I enjoy to soak into. He told me "never stop learning". Taught me quite a lot about carpentry even though I don't like carpentry due to wood dusts. Likewise whenever I have some knowledge to share, he is always paying attention to what I tell.
Since I met horst I have immediately drawn to his presence and I knew he is a wonderful person to hang out with and my intuition is right about him. He taught and helped me with my projects that we are proud of doing. I will remember him every time I see all our projects that we accomplished together.
He loves the outdoors from hunting to fishing often we talk about gardening and showing me his crops of potatoes, carrots, beans and other crops he has beside his chicken coop. Also love foraging blueberries and mushrooms and some are planned at our house, now that he is gone a place in our dinning table will be forever empty. I will always be looking at one spot and imagine that he is still there talking to me at the same time sipping a pipping hot black coffee (no sugar nor creamer), laughing and teaching things we need to know. Little he did know until I made one is that I know how to make flans, a sweet custard made of egg yolks and milk. Telling him that I know how to, baked him a few and the excitement in his eyes made me happy that's how our friendship became stronger.
STORY TIME; When I resided here in Dryden he always comes for a visit and have a good conversation. There was one day that he came to visit without me knowing and I was cleaning the inside of the house that morning. Everything was scattered across the floor and when I need a break I play a game on my phone. Well, that day he came and I was losing the game which I am playing. As he came in and closed the door then said "hello", I spoke curse words at the same time screaming at what I was playing. I was embarrassed and apologizing to him and explained what was going on. He laughed out loud and said to me "we will get along really good". He asked me if I like hunting and fishing and I said yes, and that's how we started our friendship.
He may be gone forever but in my mind he will always be here to keep my head up high aiming for the my goals. He is a man with strong will and passion. a friend that is always gives a helping hand, a generous person and I return as much as I could. I still owe him a lot of what he had given and I hope this tribute is one of them and I am sharing this to anyone who is willing to watch his presence on a video I have created for him, for us, for all who he loved.
